You must complete both the Gates Cambridge part of the funding application form and the section to apply for admission to a course and college place to be eligible for this funding program. Applications for admission and funding are reviewed by the Gates Cambridge while the full application is available.
Application Process
To apply, applicants must fill out a combined application form. Students apply for admission and funding (Gates Cambridge and other funding) through the Graduate Application Portal of the University.

This section allows you to apply for a range of funding offered by the University and other institutions, including Gates Cambridge Scholarships, which has a separate subsection.
Requirements for documents:
In order to apply for a Gates Cambridge Scholarship, you will need to provide the following information:
- The application form asks: "In no more than 3000 characters (approximately 500 words), tell us why you are applying for a Gates Cambridge Scholarship and how you meet the four main criteria.". - PhD applicants at Gates Cambridge must only submit a research proposal as part of their funding application.
Gates Cambridge reference: In addition to two academic references for admission, Gates Cambridge applicants submit a reference about their fit with the scholarship.
