About the Haileybury Scholarship 

Haileybury is dedicated to delivering exceptional quality education to its students. At its four Melbourne campuses - Berwick, Brighton, City, and Keysborough, Haileybury offers a limited number of scholarships. 

These scholarships include:

Haileybury Academic Scholarships 2024-2025

Haileybury Academic Scholarships are given to students who show exceptional academic achievement.

Eligibility Requirements: 

Students currently in Years 3, 5, and 8 in 2024 are eligible to participate in testing for entry to Years 5, 7, and 10 in 2026.

Testing Details

Testing covers areas like literacy, numeracy, and comprehension. Academic Scholarship testing is managed by Edutest.

Testing Process

  • Initial testing is done online from a student’s home, supervised remotely by qualified Edutest staff.
  • If a student is selected for secondary testing, they will need to attend the campus in person.

Important Dates

  • Applications Open: Monday, 3 June 2024
  • Applications Close: Friday, 12 July 2024
  • Scholarship Examination Dates: Saturday, 27 July 2024, & Sunday, 28 July 2024

Important Information for Academic Scholarship Applicants

1. Testing Procedure

  • Testing will be conducted online in students' homes, supervised by experienced Edutest supervisors.
  • Students will complete four online multiple-choice tests and a handwritten expression test.
  • Testing day and times will be provided closer to the test date, with staggered start times. Students must be available all day on the allocated testing day.

2. Alternate Testing

  • No alternate test dates or times are offered if you are unable to test at the allocated time.
  • Alternate testing dates or locations are not available.

3. Campus Selection

  • Students can apply for entry into only one campus.
  • Haileybury offers partial Academic scholarships.

4. Scholarship Conditions

  • Normal conditions of entry as outlined in the Business Notice apply.
  • Scholarships are awarded from the year of entry until Year 12, with continuation assessed annually against acceptance terms.

5. Eligibility and Testing

  • Testing for Year 5 is open to external students only, while Year 7 and Year 10 testing is open to both external and current Haileybury students.

6. Test Results

  • Haileybury does not disclose test results to families, and results remain the property of Haileybury.
  • Results cannot be shared or transferred to or from other schools.

7. Code of Conduct

  • Participating families must adhere to Haileybury’s Code of Conduct.
  • Any behavior below expected levels will result in immediate cancellation of test registration and exclusion from future scholarship processes.

8. Practice Exams

  • Practice exams are available for purchase from Edutest during online registration.

9. Final Testing Details

  • Families will receive final testing details, including logins and test session information, from Edutest one week prior to testing.

10. Application

  • No late applications will be accepted, and the application fee is non-refundable.

Next Steps in the Scholarship Process

  1. Second Round Testing

    • Students shortlisted for the next stage must attend a second round of testing at their chosen campus.
    • There are no other options for test dates or times if a student cannot attend on the specified date.
    • The dates for the second round of testing will be posted on our website in 2024.
  2. Third Stage Interview

    • Those successful in the second round will move on to an interview with the Head of Campus at their selected campus.
    • This interview helps determine the student's suitability for the scholarship.
  3. Communication of Results

    • Students who do not advance to the second stage will receive an email notification in August 2024.
    • Please refrain from contacting Haileybury Admissions for test results before this date, as decisions will not be finalized.

Haileybury Excellence Scholarships 2024-2025 

Haileybury provides a limited number of scholarships to students who may face financial barriers to accessing a Haileybury education.

These scholarships are available in the following categories: General Excellence, Music (specific instruments and grades), and Indigenous.

Applicants for each category must demonstrate their dedication to academic excellence and accomplishments in leadership (both in and out of school), community service, music, sports, and the arts.

Eligibility: 

Haileybury Excellence Scholarships are open to students in Years 4, 6, and 9 in 2024, applying for entry into Years 5, 7, and 10 in 2025 at our Berwick, Brighton, City, and Keysborough campuses.

  • Applications Open: 9:00 am Monday, 19 February 2024
  • Applications Close: 5:00 pm Friday, 15 March 2024 (applications for 2024 are now closed)
Application important notice:
  • Show Your Skills: Share your talents and interests in your studies, leadership, community work, sports, and culture.

  • Interviews for Shortlisted Students: If selected, you'll be invited for an interview to talk more about your application.

  • Give Only What's Asked: Only provide the information requested in the application. You can share more during the interview if needed.

  • Year 5 Entry for Outsiders Only: Only students from outside Haileybury can apply for Year 5 entry. Current Year 4 students can't apply.

  • Music Scholarships: Talented musicians in Brass, Strings, or Woodwind can apply. These scholarships cover instrument tuition for Years 7 and 10 in 2025. For Year 7, you need at least AMEB Grade 4 / 5 (or equivalent). For Year 10, you need AMEB Grade 6 / 7 (or equivalent). You'll audition at Haileybury’s Keysborough campus if shortlisted.

  • Indigenous Scholarships: Open to talented Australian Indigenous students. You'll need proof of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander heritage.

  • Reviewed by Scholarships Committee: A committee will consider all applications.

  • No Individual Feedback: You won't get personal feedback on your application.

  • Submit On Time: Make sure your application is complete and on time.

  • Notification for Unsuccessful Applicants: If your application is unsuccessful, you'll get an email notification.

Haileybury Foundation Scholarships

The Haileybury Foundation has supported many deserving students over the years. These students have received scholarships, allowing them to pursue their education, build their future, and give back to their community.

Haileybury Foundation scholarships are awarded based on financial need. They are available to students in Years 7, 8, 9, or 10 who may not have the means to afford a Haileybury education. For more details and to apply, visit the Haileybury Foundation Scholarships page.

In the past, there were two types of means-tested scholarships: Haileybury Foundation and Socio-Economic scholarships. Starting from 2023, all means-tested scholarships are now offered through the Haileybury Foundation.
