Commonwealth Shared Scholarships| Eligibility & Qualifications

Applicants must fulfill the following criteria in order to be eligible for the Commonwealth Shared Scholarships 2023–24:

  • Becoming a citizen of, actually obtained refugee status from, or being a British Protected Person from one of the eligible Commonwealth Nations.
  • Reside there permanently in a Commonwealth nation that qualifies.
  • By the beginning of the UK academic year in September 2023, be eligible to begin their academic pursuits there. 
  • Hold a first degree with at least upper second-class (2:1) honors, or a lower second-class degree (2:2, and a suitable postgraduate degree (often a Master's degree) by September 2023.
  • Not having completed one or more academic years of study or employment in a high-income nation.
  • without this Scholarship, be unable to afford to attend a UK university.

Benefits of Commonwealth Shared Scholarships

  • Flights approved by the CSC from the Scholar's home country to the UK and back at the conclusion of their Scholarship (the CSC will not cover the cost of flights for dependents or trips made before the award is confirmed).
  • Approved tuition fees: Under the terms of the agreement between the CSC and the UK university, all fees are covered, and Scholars are not required to cover any portion of the tuition.
  • Stipend (living allowance) paid and funded by the university at a rate of £1,236 per month for those attending universities outside of the London metropolitan area, or £1,516 per month for those doing so.
  • Thesis grant to help with the cost of writing a thesis or dissertation, as appropriate. Funded by the CSC and claimed from the university.
  • Study travel grants are provided by the CSC to help with the cost of studying abroad or inside the UK and are claimed from and paid for by the institution.
  • Contribution to the cost of an obligatory TB test, if one is needed for a visa application (receipts are necessary); claimed from and paid for by the university; supported by the CSC.
  • If Scholars are accompanied by their children under the age of 16, they will receive a child allowance of £529 per month for the first kid and £131 per month for the second and third children if they are widowed, divorced, or single parents.
  • The CSC will offer Scholars who disclose they have a disability a thorough evaluation of their needs and whether they qualify for additional financial aid.
