Swansea University is now accepting applications for fully funded research scholarships for the class of 2022–2023. International and domestic students that have an undergraduate degree in engineering or a closely related science discipline with a 2.1 GPA (or the non-UK equivalent as determined by Swansea University) are now eligible for the fully funded research scholarship 2022–2023 at Swansea University.

The scholarships for the incoming class have been formally announced by Swansea University. Swansea University is regarded as one of the best universities in the world. Swansea University was established in Wales, United Kingdom, as University College of Swansea in 1920.

This scholarship is made available by Swansea University each year to welcome new students to the university. Fully Funded Research Scholarships 2022–2023 would give selected students access to new and better opportunities and expose them to advanced learning in postgraduate programs.

SUW UK Fully Funded Research Scholarship Eligibility Requirements

Candidates must typically possess a first class or 2.1 undergraduate degree in the biosciences or a closely related field, as well as a distinction in marine biology at the master's level (or Non-UK equivalent as defined by Swansea University). Country-specific Information for International Applicants in 2019 and Country-specific Information for European Applicants in 2019 are also available.

The applicant must possess the abilities to develop one or more of the project description areas. These abilities need to involve proficiency in data analysis and the capacity to work with sizable data sets employing R, ArcGIS, or other programs. It would be ideal to have prior laboratory and fieldwork experience. 

The capacity to coordinate a sizable contingent of volunteers on the ground is desired.

IELTS 6.5 overall (with at least 6.0 in each individual component), if applicable, or Swansea recognized equivalent are the prerequisites for English language proficiency. You may find information on Swansea University's English Language Admissions Policy here.

South Africa, Mozambique, Madagascar, Mauritius, Comoros, Tanzania, Seychelles, Kenya, Somalia, Djibouti, India, Pakistan, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Timor-Leste, Yemen, and Oman are the only countries in the Indian Ocean region that are eligible for this scholarship.

Application procedures:

Please enter the following information on your online application if you wish to apply:

1. Please choose Biological Sciences / PhD / Full-time / 3 Year / October as your course of study.

If the application system detects that you have previously applied for the aforementioned program, it may issue a warning notice and prevent your application. In this case, please email pgrscholarships@swansea.ac.uk, and staff there will be happy to help you submit your application.

2. Please choose 2022 as the start year.
3. Finances (page 8) -
  • "Are you paying for your own studies?" - please choose No under 
  • "Name of Individual or Organization Funding Study" and then type "RS118 - PhD WIO"
Please note that incomplete applications will not be taken into consideration for the scholarship award. It is the applicant's responsibility to accurately list the above information when applying.
  • Applications cannot be taken into consideration if they list more than one Swansea University led research scholarship grant; only one application is needed per unique Swansea University led research scholarship award.
